The Downtown Design Riyadh marked Muntj Studio’s first presentation in the city, bringing the studio’s practice into one of the Kingdom’s emerging platforms for contemporary design.
The presentation brought together Nawat and Sanam Aloud, two works that approach Saudi culture through distinct materials, references, and forms. Nawat revisits the enduring ritual of serving dates through a contemporary expression of Saudi hospitality, while Sanam Aloud explores the cultural significance of oud through a new relationship between material, object, and contemporary living.

Together, the works offered an introduction to Muntj Studio’s practice in Riyadh: researching elements of Saudi culture and translating them into considered objects for the present.
As the studio’s Riyadh debut, the participation established a local point of presence for Muntj Studio’s growing body of cultural design work.
